UNDP is the UN's global development network advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. In the new strategic plan the UNDP is tasked to set up a global and country level SDG platforms with six signatory services. One of these signatory services is “to close the energy gap”. This solution will focus on increasing energy access, promoting renewable energy and enhancing energy efficiency in a manner that is inclusive and responsive to the needs of different sectors of the population (urban/rural, women/men, household/business). It will support countries’ transition to sustainable energy systems through de-risking the investment environment and attracting and leveraging private and public-sector resources.
