The United Nations Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs provides leadership, operational support to agencies for the coordination of Humanitarian work. OCHA’s role in South Sudan is to identify humanitarian emergencies and support the Government and humanitarian organizations to respond in an effective and timely manner. OCHA operates through a Country Office in the capital city, Juba, and a network of sub-offices in Jonglei, Lakes, Northen?Bahr el Ghazal, Unity, Upper Nile and Warrap. When crises occur in places where OCHA does not have a regular presence, a team is deployed from Juba to support field coordination.

Under the overall guidance of the Camp Manager and under the direct supervision of the Head of Security Guards, the Security Guard must provide, supervise, oversee, supervise and coordinate all the security services.

Devoirs et responsabilités

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Security Guards, the incumbent will undertake the below tasks;

  • Ensure 24-hour man guarding service at the following UNOCHA compound premises sites:? Main entrance gates, exit gates including parking area, water purification plants, Generator house, cafeteria, and all the properties of the office premises.
  • Provide 24-hour QRF (Quick Reaction Force) service to respond to any emergency as required.
  • Ensure that security officials on all sites are always equipped with a torch-light.
  • Site specific instructions for access control to address the movement of personnel, vehicles and equipment entering and leaving the UN premises;
  • The Guard shall ensure timely reports on any fire detection and security breach in the compound, suspected case of theft, accidents etc.
  • The OCHA Security Guard shall managed and supervised hired company security guards in the
  • Keep proper records for Guests, vehicles and pedestrians on the main entrance gate
  • Monitoring of the two adjacent streets (within the physical limits of OCHA Compound) for any criminal activity and reacting promptly in support to the affected UN/staff and their property.
  • Check the removal and movement of incoming/outgoing equipment and items. Keep records of items going out of or coming into the UN OCHA compound, as may be necessary.
  • Monitor access to and movement within the UNOCHA premises, including restricted areas and report on procedures violation,
  • Verify that all UN emergency exit doors are properly locked and those left open inadvertently are properly locked and reported thereafter.
  • Check and direct UN official and staff vehicles parked in the UN Compound and within the sight horizon of the boundaries of the compound
  • Control of vehicle access into and out of the compound parking facilities;
  • Ensure that vehicles entering the parking space are parked in the appropriate space assigned to the UN agency the vehicle belongs to and assisted to that effect by the guards.
  • Ensure that the guards posted at the UN premises are properly dressed in uniforms to portray a good image to visitors.
  • Advise the UN on possible security measures to improve security service delivery in the UN OCHA premises.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Academic Qualifications:

  • High School education required to perform the duties of the post.

Years of experience:

  • 3 years of experience in communication including experience in radio communications is a strong asset.
