Under the guidance and supervision of the Operations Analyst, the Operations Intern provides support to HR services in the UNDP Jamaica Country Office ensuring high quality of work, accurate, timely and properly recorded/documented service delivery. The Intern promotes a client-oriented environment and is consistent with rules and regulations approach in the Unit.

The Intern works in close collaboration with the Operations Analyst to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery. Internships offer a small group of outstanding graduate-level students the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UNDP's work.

Devoirs et responsabilités

Under direct supervision of the Operations Analyst, the intern will carry out the following tasks:

  • Administrative support to recruitment processes: prepare vacancy announcements; filing and listing of applicants’ details; pre-screening of the applications, coordination for written exam and interview; preparation of documentation for various processes, developing recruitment strategies and schedules and prepare list for short-listed candidates in the data base format.
  • Effective logistical support for staff learning and development: review of learning plan; support to the implementation of learning events and other staff events managed by HR/ staff; assists in the organization of conferences, forums or other collaborative events.
  • Research: Conduct research in the area of crisis response for the Country Office
  • Leave Monitoring and Management: prepare the monthly leave records to be signed by respective staff.
  • Perform any other duties, as required.

At the end of the assignment the Intern will be able to:

  • Produce well-constructed reports and statistics that support organizational decision-making;
  • Support organizational development through operational projects;
  • Provide standard policy advice on HR-related matters in the UN context.

Qualifications et expériences requises

The intern must have studies in Human Resources, Social Sciences or other similar subject at the university level and;

  1. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
  2. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or,
  3. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word and Excel spreadsheet in data management.
  • Fluent in oral and written English


  • UNDP does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship;
  • All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern or the nominating institution as appropriate;
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship.
  • Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship.
  • The intern must provide proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan, proof of school enrollment/educational status, two letters of recommendation, resume and application.
