Historique

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

HeForShe is a global solidarity movement for gender equality that engages men and boys as advocates and agents of change for the achievement of gender equality and women’s rights. The initiative’s premise is that gender inequality is not only a women’s issue but a human rights issue, the resolution of which will benefit both women and men socially, politically and economically. In alignment of this, HeForShe is launching beyond UN Women and endeavoring to be implemented throughout the entire UN system by mid-2019.

In support of the Secretary-General’s System-wide Strategy on Gender Parity, the launch of a UN HeForShe System-wide pilot initiative from October 2018 to July 2019 will contribute towards the realization of gender equality in the work of the UN, and the achievement of the 2030 agenda.

?The initiative establishes a system-wide engagement platform empowering employees to take concrete action toward gender equality, as we build collective momentum as an organization. During the implementation phase from October 2018 - July 2019, the UN HeForShe Communications Consultant will enable the UN wide initiative to be successful through managing the initial launch period and supporting the UN HeForShe Global Task Force.
