UNDP Armenia, in partnership with the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development, continuous to initiate and implement projects on women empowerment, gender equality and youth leadership in Armenia. There are three ongoing project within the UNDP Armenia Women Empowerment and Gender Equality Programme.

UK GGF funded “Women in Politics” project aims at advancement of youth leadership, women political empowerment at local levels which will further contribute towards the women’s political engagement on a national level. The project works in the following directions: (i) exploring policy gaps for women political participation from grassroots to national level; (ii) advancing leadership potential and skills of women in communities of Armenia vis-a-vis community development processes and ongoing reforms; (iii) advancing the role and capacities of political parties for advancing women in politics; (iv) policy dialogue on gender equality and participatory democracy in the context of local development and ongoing reforms from local to subnational and national levels; (v) advancing discourse on issues of gender equality and women participation at all levels through advocacy and public campaigns; (vi) empower youth in the communities as enablers of local democracy and women support groups through empathy-building leadership models.

UN Women funded “Women’s Economic Empowerment in South Caucasus” project aims to ensure that women, particularly the poor and socially excluded, particularly those from Shirak and Gegharkunik regions are economically empowered and participate in relevant decision-making. The project aims to contribute to the following three outcomes: (i) women, particularly the poor and socially excluded, use skills, economic opportunities and relevant information to be self-employed and/or to join the formal labour sector in Armenia (grass-roots level); (ii) government and public institutions develop and deliver gender-responsive programmes, public services, strategies and plans for women’s economic empowerment in Armenia (institutional level).

 “Gender Equality in Public Administration of Armenia” project focuses on: revamping the procedures and practices in selected public bodies to promote women’s role in higher levels of public administration; enhancing the training, staff development and coaching functions with focus on promoting young women cadre, based on the Gender Policy Strategic Action Plan for 2017-2021; developing the how-to guides for all levels of public administration, etc.

“Supporting Decentralization in Armenia with Focus on Women, Youth and Innovative Public Services” project funded by the SDC will start as of 1 July 2019, and will dwell on women political empowerment in enlarged communities, youth local leadership and citizen-driven public services.     

Currently UNDP Armenia seeks a qualified Intern to support the programme team. The Intern will work under direct supervision of the Programme Manger and in close cooperation with the UNDP Projects’ team, Democratic Governance Portfolio, and the counterpart institutions/organizations.

Devoirs et responsabilités

1. Work with the Project Database and Content Management Systems

Women Empowerment and Gender Equality Programme has its specific Database and Content Management System (DBCMS) designed to ensure comprehensive projects-related data collection. As of today, the DBCMS includes information of more than 5000 project beneficiaries. The Intern will be responsible for regular inputs and maintenance of the Database and Content Management System, as well as other project spreadsheets by collecting, compiling, and exchanging data with the national and international partners.  

S/hehe will also follow the local election results and will prepare short reports on women running and elected at local level. Based on the reports the Intern will maintain the database of elected women accordingly.

2. Work with Social Media

Social media is one of the primary public awareness channels of the Women Empowerment and Gender Equality Programme project. The Intern will be responsible for the regular contribution and maintenance of the project social media platforms and networks, report on analytics, as well as insight dynamics in line with the Program Communication Strategy and emerging communication priorities.

3. Provide administrative and logistical support

The Intern will provide support to the projecs team in administrative and logistical work. The support will include arrangements for the organized meetings/events/workshops, as well as translation and interpretation services from/to English and Armenian during meetings, as required.  

4. Other duties

Other tasks may be assigned as required.

Compétences

  • Knowledge of gender-related aspects and trends in Armenia will be a strong asset;
  • Strong skills in running/managing social media will be a strong asset;
  • Demonstrated initiative, tact and high sense of responsibility and discretion;
  • Strong teamwork skills;
  • Ability to work under the pressure;
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral;
  • Excellent networking skills;
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, etc.); ability to design and maintain spreadsheets, as well as in handle web-based management systems.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education: Applicants to the UNDP Internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

• Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in Social or Political Sciences, IT, Communications,  Journalism or related disciplines;

• Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in Social Sciences, Political Sciences, International Relations, Linguistics, Journalism or related disciplines;

• Have graduated with a university degree (as defined  above and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Computer skills: Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Internet. Skills related to use of office IT equipment.  Experience of uploading web-based data.

Languages:   Excellent written and spoken Armenian and English. Russian is an asset.
