UN Women Georgia Country Office, as part of UN Country Team, has been providing technical and financial assistance to national partners related to country’s national and international commitments to women’s rights and gender equality. Key areas of UN Women’s support include ending violence against women and girls, women’s participation in decision-making, economic empowerment of women, and the enhancement of women’s participation in peace and security processes. UN Women has been working with a wide variety of national and international development partners, including other UN Agencies and Programmes.

In June 2015 UN Women launched a website “Georgia.unwomen.org”, which is providing information about UN Women’s work in Georgia. The website is bi-lingual, Georgian and English. To ensure high quality of the English version of website and materials provided on the website, UN Women Country Office is seeking for a native speaker (English) editor/ proofreader.  

Devoirs et responsabilités

The duties and responsibilities of the National Consultant are:

  • Edit and proofread short materials in English (news and stories) for UN Women website;
  • Edit and proofread longer documents (needs assessment studies, summary of research studies, brochures, annual reports, and alike);
  • Ensure high quality of all edited texts and timely delivery of services;
  • Liaise regularly with the Communication Officer and/or Programme Specialist (depending on the documents).

*Up to 5000 pages per year

Deliverables:

  • Deliver short materials edited (typically news and stories for website no longer that 1 page) not later than 2 days after receiving the text;
  • Deliver longer materials/ documents within a timeframe agreed with the UN Women Communication Officer and/ or Programme Specialist;
  • Provide regularly quarterly summary reports of deliverables/ services provided to the UN Women Programme Specialist (for quarterly payments against approved deliverables).

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education:

  • University degree (at least Masters) in English or in any related field such as other languages, literature, social science, political science, etc.

Experience: 

  • At least 3 years of experience as an editor/ proofreader;
  • Proved experience of editing (applicants will be required to provide samples of their editing work that was published);
  • Experience working with texts related to human rights/ gender equality issues is an advantage;

Language:

  • English (native)

Evaluation Procedure:

The candidates will be evaluated in three stages: according to minimum qualification criteria; technical and financial evaluation.

The candidates must possess following minimum qualification criteria to be eligible for further technical evaluation:

  • University degree (at least Masters) in English or related disciplines (as above)
  • At least 3 years of experience in editing (samples of published texts required)

The candidates will be evaluated in three stages: according to minimum qualification criteria followed by technical and financial evaluation.

Technical evaluation criteria (including minimum qualifications):

  • University degree (at least Masters) as above (max 40 points)
  • At least 3 years of experience as an editor (max 110 points)
  • Proved experience of published texts edited by the applicant (max 110 points)
  • Experience of editing text related to human rights, women’s rights issues, gender-based violence and domestic violence issues in Georgia (max 90 points)

Maximum total technical score amounts to 350 points. Only candidates who have passed over the minimum qualification criteria and have accumulated at least 245 points out of maximum 350 under technical evaluation will qualify for the next stage i.e. evaluation of their financial proposals.

Evaluation of submitted financial offers will be done based on the following formula: S = Fmin / F * 150

S – score received on financial evaluation;

Fmin – the lowest financial offer out of all the submitted offers qualified over the technical evaluation round;

F – financial offer under consideration.

The winning candidate will be the candidate, who has accumulated the highest aggregated score (technical

scoring + financial scoring).

Management arrangements:

The selected candidate will report to and work under direct supervision of the UN Women Communication Officer and/or Programme Specialist.

Financial arrangements:

Payment will be disbursed upon submission of quarterly summary reports and the approval of deliverables by UN Women Programme Specialist that the services have been satisfactory and timely performed.

*The applicants are required to submit an aggregated financial offer (“aggregated financial offer” is the total sum of all financial claims of the candidate for accomplishment of all tasks spelled out in this ToR).
