The Joint SDG Fund supports countries as they accelerate their progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It operates through a series of Calls for the United Nations (UN) system that lead to the implementation of transformative Joint Programmes (JPs), under the leadership of Resident Coordinators (RCs). In doing so the Fund is committed to forge paths and partnerships that unlock public and private capital for the SDGs at scale

This vacancy is about the provision of support to the UN Joint SDG Fund in Communications specifically social media/external outreach.

Devoirs et responsabilités

Under the guidance and supervision of the Communications Specialist , the consultant will assist in (1) development and production of multimedia content in order to increase media reach & visibility effectiveness, (2) web-related activities social media activities and (3) integrating digital into all aspects of implementation of the Joint SDG Fund in line with the Global Communication. She/he is expected to produce the following results:

1. Support on external communications:

  • Conceptualize, research and advise on the latest trends in new technology industry standards, new emerging digital platforms (Google Analytics, Hootsuite, etc), to maximize strategic digital engagement in the content strategy;
  • Identify new digital tools and best practices and how these can be most effectively applied to deepen engagement with supporters;
  • Initiate and develop relationships with outside partners to produce digital products and content approaches on priority themes and initiative, and the preparation of appropriate formats and language versions as required;
  • Develop and maintain regular content review, working across the organization, UN agencies, donor Governments and partners to ensure a consistent and coherent approach to digital content and engagement keeping track of efforts and activities;
  • Help develop and implement informed, cross-platform social media and digital marketing strategies and support management to make informed decisions regarding digital strategy;
  • Create compelling social media content for digital platforms for the Joint SDG Fund and UN Agencies, partners, donors to use and systematically grow and deepen engagement across all digital platforms. Content should be in the following formats: Multimedia (photo and video), visual presentation of messages, facts and figures;
  • Manage Trello boards in building content – info graphic cards, quote cards, planned tweets and additional content for events;
  • Editing blogs for youth corner website, human interest stories and other content that will be shared on social media and the website.
  • Actively engage with online audiences through social media channels;
  • Maintain a web and social media calendar and content plans of content themes and all upcoming coverage schedules according to the calendar

 

2. Additional Responsibilities:

  • Create presentations for high-level meetings;
  • Produce layouts for digital reports;
  • Align with global communication messages, and support visibility of results and transformative efforts in joint programmes;
  • Support external outreach and additional tasks needed.

Deliverables

  • Stories, social media posts, videos, images, infographics, photos posted to digital channels;
  • Two-fold increase in followers by end of assignment;
  • Monthly web and social media calendar created and adhered to;
  • Social media packs prepared for all key events, dates, launches, etc and shared with stakeholders, where appropriate;
  • Timely responses to messages and comments, monthly reports on levels of engagement;
  • Analytic reports.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Qualifications of the Successful Individual Contractor

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, marketing, social science, communication or a related field.

Experience:

  • 2+ years’ experience working on social media, digital marketing or editorial for an NGO, global company or publishing outlet.
  • Experience with InDesign or Illustrator
  • Experience in developing and implementing social media or digital marketing strategies.
  • Proven ability to write flawless copy on tight deadlines.
  • Proven copy-editing skills.
  • Adept at using a wide range of social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn.
  • Experience of blogging and knowledge of best practices.
  • Knowledge of social media monitoring technology and can use social media measurement.
  • Experience in reporting on quantitative and qualitative analytics
  • Consistently achieves high-level results, managing and delivering projects on-time
  • Working with video creating is an added plus.

Language

  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Working knowledge of Spanish and/or French is considered an additional asset

 

Duration of the Work

  • Full time assignment starting from July 2020 until December 2020 (6 months).

 

Institutional Arrangement

The Consultant will report to the Communications Specialist of the Joint SDG Fund and collaborate with the staff of the Secretariat under the overall lead of the Head of the Secretariat. The Secretariat of the Joint SDG Fund is hosted in the Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office, New York, USA.

 

Duty Station

Home based. The consultant works remotely, with virtual skype meetings to discuss content with the New York based team and UN country teams in the field.

 

Application procedure

Proposal from candidates should include:

  • A completed UN P-11 form or CV
  • Cover letter;
  • Two samples of images produced for social media;
  • The financial proposal shall specify a total lump sum amount or a daily rate, and payment terms around the specific and measurable deliverables of the TOR. Payments are based upon output, i.e. upon delivery of the services specified in the TOR, and deliverables accepted and certified by the technical manager.

  • The financial proposal must be all-inclusive and take into account various expenses that will be incurred during the contract, including: the daily professional fee; cost of travel from the home base to the duty station and vice versa, where required; living allowances at the duty station; communications, utilities and consumables; life, health and any other insurance; risks and inconveniences related to work under hardship and hazardous conditions (e.g., personal security needs, etc.), when applicable; and any other relevant expenses related to the performance of services under the contract.
  • This consultancy is a home-based assignment
  • If the Offeror is employed by an organization/company/institution, and he/she expects his/her employer to charge a management fee in the process of releasing him/her to UNDP under a Reimbursable Loan Agreement (RLA), the Offeror must indicate at this point, and ensure that all such costs are duly incorporated in the financial proposal submitted to UNDP.

 

Evaluation process

  • Applicants are reviewed based on Required Skills and Experience stated above and based on the technical evaluation criteria outlined below.  Applicants will be evaluated based on cumulative scoring.  When using this weighted scoring method, the award of the contract will be made to the individual consultant whose offer has been evaluated and determined as:
  • Being responsive/compliant/acceptable; and
  • Having received the highest score out of a pre-determined set of weighted technical and financial criteria specific to the solicitation where technical criteria weighs 70% and Financial criteria/ Proposal weighs 30%.

 

Technical evaluation - Total 70% (700 points)

  • Experience in creating social media strategies. Weight = 60%; Maximum Points: 420;
  • Experience with developing external communication content. Weight = 20%; Maximum Points: 140;
  • Experience in digital design. Weight = 20%; Maximum Points: 140
  • Candidates obtaining a minimum of 70% (490 points) of the maximum obtainable points for the technical criteria (700 points) shall be considered for the financial evaluation.

Financial evaluation - Total 30% (300 points)

  • The following formula will be used to evaluate financial proposal:
  • p = y (µ/z), where
  • p = points for the financial proposal being evaluated
  • y = maximum number of points for the financial proposal
  • µ = price of the lowest priced proposal
  • z = price of the proposal being evaluated

Contract Award

  • Candidate obtaining the highest combined scores in the combined score of Technical and Financial evaluation will be considered technically qualified and will be offered to enter into contract with UNDP.
  • The Consultant will be responsible for providing her/his own laptop.

 

Payment modality

  • Payment to the Individual Contractor will be made based on the submission of the monthly report and upon certification of satisfactory completion by the manager.
