UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. UN Women in Georgia supports state and non-state partners towards the achievement of substantive gender equality in Georgia. In line with national and international commitments, UN Women works on the levels of policies and legislation, institutions and grassroots, in order to achieve transformative results for increased gender equality and greater protection of the rights of women and girls.

In September 2019 UN Women Georgia with the generous support of the Government of Norway launched a three-year project “Good Governance for Gender Equality in Georgia (GG4GEG). The overarching goal/impact of the project is to ensure that governance systems are gender-sensitive and enable gender equality in Georgia. To support achievement of planned results under project output 1. gender equality and gender mainstreaming are institutionalized at the national and local levels, UN Women is planning to hire Project Associate. Reporting to the UN Women Programme Analyst, the Project Associated will work in work in close collaboration with the programme and operations team in UN Women Georgia Country Office in Tbilisi and will carry out duties and responsibilities as described below.

  • Works towards quality and timely implementation of the GG4GEG annual work plan together with project partners, consultants, and beneficiaries to achieve project results.
  • Prepares documentation necessary for signing Partner Agreements, Special Service Agreements and other project related agreements with responsible partners, consultants  and other service providers.
  • Collects, analyses and presents information for monitoring and evaluation of project implementation against project targets
  • Compiles and designs background information for formulation of project work plans, drafts annual/quarterly budgets, proposals on implementation arrangements, drafts quarterly project reports.
  • Provides support to organizing and holding the meetings, including the preparation and dissemination of information and follow-up.
  • Provides partners and stakeholders with technical assistance, mentoring, training and capacity development support, as needed.
  • Contributes to preparation of relevant documentation such as concept notes, terms of references, issue briefs and alike.
  • Contributes to drafting project progress reports in accordance with UN Women and donor reporting modalities.
  • Coordinates and organizes events, trainings, workshops and conferences.
  • Contributes to the development of knowledge management strategies, methodologies and products on mainstreaming gender in governance processes and capacities.
  • Organizes and attends field missions and draft reports on monitoring missions.
  • Keeps updated a mapping of main stakeholders/partners and ensure regular coordination between them related to project activities.
  • Identifies and synthesizes best practices and lessons learned that are directly linked to the implementation of the GG4GEG project and contribute to their dissemination.
  • Carries out any other task relevant for the project implementation as necessary.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in social and political sciences, law, public administration, gender or related field.

Experience

  • At least seven (7) years of professional experience project management and implementation.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in working on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  • Experience in coordinating and liaising with government agencies, CSOs and/or donors is a strong asset.

Language:

  • Fluency in Georgian and English.
