Asia and the Pacific

Strategic Partnerships

At the regional office, the Strategic Partnerships team is in charge of building partnerships with bilateral partners as well as private sector entities, non-profit organisations and the media. In addition, the Strategic Partnerships team supports country offices with their private sector engagement efforts and helps build their resource mobilisation capacity. The Head of Partnerships and Resource Mobilization manages the PRMAC (Partnerships and Resource Mobilization, Advocacy and Communications) unit and will be the consultant’s supervisor. The consultant will also indirectly report to the Partnerships Development Specialist (International Consultant) for operational/daily tasks.

Institutional Arrangement

The consultant will work under the supervision of the Head of Partnerships and Resource Mobilization. UN Women will provide the consultant with a work laptop and a workstation. In the event that the consultant needs to travel during the consultancy for assignment-related purposes, UN Women will bear the costs of requested travel expenses.

Duration

The duration of the consultancy is 6 months, starting on 4 January 2021 and ending 15 July 2021. Living expenses are to be covered by the consultant.

Duty Station

The consultant will be based in Bangkok at the UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.

Scope of Work

The purpose of the consultancy is to assist the Strategic Partnerships team in developing and managing UN Women’s relationships with strategic partners in the region, providing resource mobilisation support to the regional office and (multi-)country offices in Asia and the Pacific and supporting the overall execution of the strategic partnerships and resource mobilisation strategy.

In light of this, the consultant will perform the following tasks:

  • Prepare briefing notes in support of resource mobilization and engagement activities;
  • Support the coordination of ROAP’s engagement with existing strategic partnerships with selected bilateral and private sector partners;
  • Support the coordination of the Gender Equality Partners Coordination Group;
  • Support the development of project proposals and the coordination between involved parties;
  • Support COs with their RM and partnerships efforts through quarterly calls, webinars, and other support as requested by COs;
  • Provide institutional support by identifying and conducting research into priority areas of bilateral partners and supporting internal outreach processes;
  • Manages risk: Acts as the co-ordinator for the due diligence process for new partnership development (focus on corporate prospects) and liaises with other risk management departments, including communications, to ensure risk through new partnerships is both identified and managed.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Requirements and Qualifications

  • At least a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy, International Relations, Economics, Marketing, Communications, or other related field;
  • Minimum 3 years of professional work experience with bilateral partners, the private sector and other donors/partners;
  • Experience/knowledge of gender equality and women’s empowerment issues;
  • Experience with the UN system is an asset.
  • Proficiency in English. Working knowledge of another UN language is desirable;

  • Evaluation

    The evaluation will be based on the combination of the weighted technical and financial scores (80 per cent technical and 20 per cent financial). The technical evaluation includes the knowledge/experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment, experience working with bilateral partners and the private sector and/or international institutions. Evaluation methods include desk review and/or interview.
