Under the overall supervision of the Assistant Director General / Regional Representative, the technical supervision of the Lead Technical Officer (LTO) of the project and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Advisor and operational supervision of the Budget Holder, as well as in close consultation with the National Designated Authority (NDA) – Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and in close liaison with FAO Belgrade personnel, the National Private Sector Consultant will be responsible for conducting activities related to private sector engagement in the framework of project GCP/SRB/004/GCR “Strengthening Serbia’scapacities for strategic engagement of private sector into climate financing”.

Devoirs et responsabilités

Particularly, the consultant will:

 

  • In coordination with the International Private Sector Consultant, support the identification of potential opportunities for Private sector potential contribution to climate change efforts in the country including by organizing and facilitating a high-level dialogue event between the NDA, coordination mechanism and Private Sector;
  • Under the methodological guidance of the International Private Sector Consultant map private sector actors who can deliver transformative investment models and the enabling environments for crowding in private investments related to climate change at national/regional level;
  • With the methodological guidance and inputs of the International Private Sector Consultant, develop a portfolio of investment opportunities for the private sector in line with NDC, including a list of proposals on both mitigation and adaptation based on their potential for innovation, transformative investment models and international best practices;
  • Organize and conduct consultations and workshops with private sector to facilitate engagement of private sector in climate action;
  • Carry out any other tasks relevant to this assignment as requested by the LTO.

Qualifications et expériences requises

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree(s) in economics, finance, management, political sciences, sustainable development, climate policy or related fields;
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in climate change preferably in an international environment;
  • Proven working experience in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation, in particular with regards to private sector;
  • Knowledge and experience in private sector financial models;
  • Proven experience on identification and development of climate change projects;
  • Knowledge of GCF procedures and UN SDGs will be considered as asset;
  • Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions is also desirable;
  • Ability and self-initiative to carry out assigned tasks within deadlines in a team as well as under minimal supervision;
  • Excellent knowledge and regular use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Language requirements:

 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills of English are required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
