UN Women’s Integrated Executive Office in New York is composed of the UN Women Executive Director and two Deputy Executive Directors (DEDs), as well as the team of people who work to support them.

The Integrated Executive Office Team assists UN Women's executive leadership in five areas of work:

  • Oversight and management: Articulate the vision for the organization, monitor and coordinate divisional activities, and brief the ED/DED on the progress of key corporate processes.
  • Substantive support and quality assurance: Provide advice on corporate policy making and/or policy change, and review and approve key internal and external UN Women documentation prepared for the ED/DED, and prepare ED/DED for high-level meetings, missions and events.
  • Communications and external relations:  Work to increase UN Women’s overall visibility, advocacy and strategic positioning on substantive priorities, and provide guidance and support for the ED/DEDs’ external outreach activities.
  • Strategic planning: Drive corporate compliance with strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation processes, and ensure Executive Office’s compliance with strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation requirements.
  • Administrative support: Manage ED/DEDs’ scheduling to ensure strategic use of their time and provide logistics assistance, including operational and budget support.

Under the supervision on the Senior Advisor to the Deputy Executive Director and Assistant Secretary-General for Resource Management, UN System Coordination, Sustainability and Partnerships, the Programme Analyst will provide coordination, communication and technical support to the Special Assistant and Senior Advisor in interactions with internal and external stakeholders for the implementation of the DED’s priorities and of major corporate priorities, as well as administrative and logistical assistance.

Devoirs et responsabilités

Provide communication support to the Assistant Secretary General/ Deputy Executive Director (ASG/DED) for Resource Management, UN System Coordination Sustainability and Partnerships:

  • Prepare social media assets and support increased visibility of UN Women’s work and DED interventions on social media channels, in close collaboration with the Communications Section.
  • Draft related communications/social media documents and messages as needed.

Provide internal coordination and communication support for the ASG/DED’s for Resource Management, Sustainability and Partnerships’ commitments:

  • Assist in the management of the ASG/DED’s agenda and coordination of briefing notes.
  • Evaluate and keep track of important events requiring the presence of the ASG/DED working closely with the Special Assistant to the ASG/DED.
  • Provide coordination support to the planning and organization of the ASG/DED’s official travel, including the timely preparation of official travel files and background documents by the relevant divisions and units; prepare or ensure the preparation of official travel reports.
  • Follow up on meetings and corporate initiatives in a timely manner, including with the preparation of relevant notes as appropriate.of the Integrated Executive Office is maintained.  

Provide technical support to the ASG/DED: 

  • Identify, research, analyze, prepare and/or organize information and briefing materials for the ASG/DED to facilitate her engagement in events and meetings.
  • Provide coordination and technical support to UN Women’s innovative financing initiatives, including related to ASG/DED engagement on discussion on innovative financing with key partners,
  • Provide coordination support in the roll out preparations for innovative finance instruments (e.g. preparing and reviewing for quality assurance background material for corresponding meetings and support the follow up).

Provide knowledge management and reporting support:

  • Provide coordination support for meeting deadlines related to organizational reports which require the ASG/DED’s revision.
  • Manage the ASG/DED team’s internal knowledge management database.     

Any other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education:

  • Master’s degree in: Gender issues, political affairs, international relations, social sciences, communications or journalism or other relevant subjects is required; a first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience: 

  • At least 2 years of experience working on communication, event coordination, partnerships or related field.
  • Experience working on partnerships and communications in the area of gender equality and women’s empowerment is preferred.

Languages: 

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English are required.
  • Proficiency in either French or Spanish (written and verbal) is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.

NOTE: The duration of the assignment is until 31 March 2022.
