Office/Unit/Project Description

The regional project on “Anti-Corruption and Integrity in Arab Countries” is implemented in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) over a four-year period from 2019 to 2023 to serve three main objectives: (1) Support the development and implementation of laws required by the UN Convention against Corruption; (2) Institutionalize corruption prevention methods at the level of priority government sec-tors to enhance their effectiveness and (3) Mobilize knowledge and capacities to contribute to the achieve-ment of SDG 16 through support provided to the Arab Anti-Corruption and Integrity Network.

Among other key activities planned for 2021-2022, the ACIAC regional project is supporting the efforts of ACINET to engage its members, remotely, through up-to-date news-style reporting on key global, regional, and country developments related to anti-corruption and integrity. Also, it is taking actions to set up a regional center of excellence for ACINET that supports the effective integration of anti-corruption and integrity in SDG implemen-tation strategies; in connection with it, a periodic newsletter will be established to inform and engage the cen-ter’s clients and partners. In parallel, with the COVID-19 pandemic limiting face to face interactions, the regional project is working on improving communication and engaging better with its stakeholders on the ground. In doing so, it is building on the regional communication team recommendation to develop communi-cation tools to better disseminate the work done by ACIAC and UNDP Country Offices in the Arab States region.

Taking forward the objectives below and based on the agreement with the leadership with ACINET, UNDP’s regional project, ACIAC, will be developing a periodical news update on anti-corruption and integrity for a five-month period. For this purpose, UNDP is seeking to hire a legal consultant, with a research and policy/legal support background, to contribute to the pro-duction and dissemination of this news update.
