Antecedentes

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN’s global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. UNDP works through 136 country offices to provide development advocacy, advice and assistance to 166 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Arab States, Eastern Europe, CIS, Latin America and the Caribbean, working to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Strategic Plan 2022-2025 will direct UNDP’s work with countries to expand people’s choices for a fairer sustainable future, to build the world envisaged by Agenda 2030. Nowhere is this more critical than in countries experiencing crisis, conflicts and fragility, home to 76.5% of the world’s extremely poor where all aspects of Agenda 2030 are at risk.

Coordinated by UNDP’s Crisis Bureau, the forthcoming Framework for Development Solutions for Crisis and Fragile Contexts will deliver on the Strategic Plan’s vision and provide a coordinated framework for UNDP’s work in crisis settings.

The Framework adopts a 2030-time horizon with three different strategies:

  • For Today's crises: Development solutions that address the root causes of today’s protracted crises, protect, and foster systemic development gains, and promote a risk-informed, resilient recovery with a focus on the furthest behind.
  • For Tomorrow's crises: Development solutions to prevent, anticipate and build resilience to foreseeable crises and shocks looming on the horizon, addressing structural vulnerabilities and risk drivers, and seizing opportunities to deliver change.
  • 2030 and beyond: Development solutions - informed by innovative policy and programming - in response to change drivers and challenges and opportunities uncovered through future scenarios and foresight.

The internship will be part of the Crisis Fragility Policy Engagement Team (CFPET) of the Crisis Bureau in Geneva and work with the Team charged with the drafting and the implementation of the Framework for Development Solutions for Crisis and Fragile Contexts.
