Antecedentes

The Research and Data Section in the Policy Division is responsible for leading UN Women’s research and data agenda. The section produces UN Women’s flagship publications, including Progress of the World’s Women (Progress), The World Survey on the Role of Women in Development (World Survey), and Gender Equality in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It also leads on research and reporting that feeds into normative processes. Recent examples include the Secretary General reports submitted to the Commission on the Status of Women for consideration during its 63rd (social protection systems) and 64th (review and appraisal of the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action) sessions.

In response to COVID-19, the Research and Data section has been collecting and analysing data on the impact of and policy response to the pandemic. In collaboration with UNDP, UN Women’s Research and Data section has developed the COVID-19 Global Gender Response Tracker which by November 2021 had compiled and analysed almost 5,000 policy responses to the pandemic from a gender perspective – tracking measures that aim to respond to the surge in violence against women, strengthen women’s economic insecurity and provide support in the face of rising unpaid care demands. The research specialist will contribute to the final tracker report, including by developing quantitative data analysis and taking responsibility for the drafting of select chapters.
