Antecedentes

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

Part of the Strategic Partnerships Division, the Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships and Advisory Services (MPAS) Section leads UN Women’s engagement with the private sector, corporations, philanthropy, foundations, and individuals - both in terms of a substantive components and resource mobilization - and it drives a wide range of UN Women’s global initiatives: HeForShe, Women Entrepreneurship Accelerator (WEA), Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and Unstereotype Alliance (UA). It also leads the work with all UN Women National Committees, and on the development of the individual/digital giving as well as Advisory Services business line for private sector. MPAS’ main aims are to ensure that UN Women develops and sustains high quality and impact focused partnerships to achieve maximum results for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of MPAS, as a part of the Private Sector Partnerships Team and in close collaboration with all other relevant MPAS and UN Women Teams - including all regional and country offices –the MPAS Resource Mobilization Specialist will be responsible for developing and managing portfolio of partnership accounts under MPAS’s management, primarily with corporations and philanthropic foundations in line with MPAS goals and targets

Deberes y responsabilidades

Develop and manage a portfolio of partnership accounts under MPAS’s management, primarily with corporations and philanthropic Foundations.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the UN Women Private Sector Partnership Strategy and MPAS Action Plan 2022-2025 in alignment with UN Women’s Strategic Plan 2022-2025.
  • Manage and coordinate relationships with key partners; provide technical inputs to senior management’s efforts to develop new and innovative partnerships;
  • Guide UN Women in the strategic planning, development and growth of specific corporate and foundations partnerships and fund-raising strategies and approaches.
  • Research prospective partners and develop intelligence analysis materials
  • As part of MPAS BWP exercise, set and monitor annual priorities, goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) for partnerships.
  • Advise UN Women on the design and implementation of effective advocacy strategies and methods for proactive and strategic targeting of partners and donors.

Manage, and facilitate the implementation of UN Women’s Private Sector Partnerships Strategy and initiatives for the private sector

  • Coordinate MPAS’s relationships with leading global corporations, foundations, and charitable entities.
  • Promote MPAS and UN Women in corporate fund-raising and foundation development initiatives for revenue growth.
  •  Cultivate new private partners, strengthening existing partnership relations, maximize partnership impact through partnership events and stakeholder engagement platforms.
  • Identify and provide analysis for new partnership prospects for possible UN Women engagement.
  • Manage the development and implementation of differentiated, donor fund-raising strategies, aligned and coordinated with MPAS’ overall initiatives and outreach activities.
  • Provide technical support to the development of project proposals in line with the UN Women’s strategy and the interest of donors;
  • Undertake ad-hoc donor studies, research, and other activities to identify funding opportunities; update the resources mobilization strategy as needs emerge.

Advise on and provide guidance on private sector engagement and outreach across UN Women teams:

  • Work in close collaboration with Strategic Partnerships Division, UN Women Programme, Policy Division, Regional and Country Offices and Trust Funds to identify and position UN Women’s core and non-core programmes for corporate and foundation support and partnership – providing expertise and guidance to engage and secure maximum commitments.
  • Work in close collaboration with other members of the Private Partnerships Team to ensure a strategic, comprehensive and coordinated approach that facilitates large-scale, collaborative multi-stakeholder support and resource mobilization growth from foundations, corporations, governments and non-governmental agencies.
  • Provide guidance on engagement with private sector partners to all UN Women teams, including regional, country offices and Trust Funds, on building and maintaining partnerships and positioning with potential donors.  including through systematized tracking of the information across the organization and by providing updated partner intelligence and Due Diligence advice in coordination with the Due Diligence Team.
  • Guide and facilitate UN Women’s National Committees engagement with corporate partners, and philantropic foundations for UN Women’s programmes.

Build trust and maintain effective relationships with donors

  • Provide technical support to the MPAS Chief and other senior managers in the preparation of missions, meetings and other consultations with donors, including the preparation of notes, briefs and other materials;
  • Act as a direct entry point for partners and  build institutional relationships;
  • Provide regular updates on partners profiles, databases (e.g. contacts management) and donor intelligence;
  • Identify opportunities to secure additional core and non-core resources;
  • Provide technical support the drafting and review of partner-specific Framework Arrangements and Cost Sharing Agreements; and the preparation of brief funding proposals and concept notes, where appropriate.

Participate in capacity and knowledge building

  • Advise and support UN Women Regional Office and field offices on resource mobilization procedures and guidelines as well as funding modalities;
  • Contribute to the development of knowledge products and mechanisms to effectively position UN Women wherever possible;
  • Share knowledge and enhance organizational learning among UN Women teams through the development and use of on-line tools, templates, tips, mechanisms and guidelines;
  • Monitor emerging issues that could affect partnerships and resource contributions at the national or regional levels (risk management).

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education and certification:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in economics, business management, social sciences, public administration, international relations, communications, women's studies, or a related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience working in the field of partnership development, coordination and resource growth.
  • Experience in coordinating engagement with multi-stakeholder partners and dealing with different constituencies, including governments and private sector.
  • Experience in providing direct support for development of resource mobilization strategies related to gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  • Previous experience with a multilateral or UN organization is a strong asset
  • Experience in gender equality issues is highly desirable.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English (written and oral) is required.
  • Knowledge of another UN official working language is an asset.
