UN Women is the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. UN Women is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide.

All human development and human rights issues have gender dimensions. UN Women focuses on priority areas that are fundamental to women’s equality, and that can unlock progress across the board. Six focus areas that UN Women include violence against women, economic empowerment, leadership and participation, peace and security, national planning and budgeting and intergovernmental processes.

The Partnerships, Resource Mobilisation, Monitoring and Evaluation is a cross cutting functions to lead and provide technical support to the programme in developing, implementing and monitoring programmes and processes across the portfolios and evaluating the programme results. It is also responsible for building partnerships across sectors and mobilizing resources for the organization. It works closely with the Business Sector Advisory Council, to develop and implement the strategy for private sector engagement.

The purpose of this consultancy is to support the activities of the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization team including the partnership opportunities arising out of the UN Women’s Business Sector Advisory Council. The consultant will support in developing and assisting in the implementing engagement and fundraising strategies to enhance and grow revenue and annual campaign operations  for private, public and civil society.  They will be part of ensuring revenue goals are met for various fundraising areas. This will also include the development of proposals, briefs, and networking as well as provide administrative, logistical and content support in curation of high impact meetings with partners and potential donors, including the Business Sector Advisory Council.

The consultant will work under the overall supervision of the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Specialist and in close coordination with the Country Programme Manager, SCE, UN Women India Office. The consultant will be based in Mumbai and will work in close coordination with Partnerships Coordinator of the Business Sector Advisory Council in delivering agreed tasks.

Deberes y responsabilidades

  • Identify, create and manage UN Women’s potential funding and non-funding partnerships/opportunities including leveraging opportunities through BSAC members;
  • Researching prospective funders to determine their capacity for giving and potential interest in a specific UN Women programmatic focus areas;
  • Managing relationships with current funders including BSAC to ensure that they are satisfied with their experience as donors
  • Overseeing fundraising activities such as events, meetings to ensure that they are successful;
  • Managing relationships with donors and soliciting donations from them on behalf of the organization.

Deliverables:

Developing strategies to increase funding from current donors through retention efforts this includes donor communication packages and materials, annual donor reviews, content development deliverables:

  • Database of partners created and maintained of 100 key partners spread over current, and potential donors, Government, Civil Society partners and influencers.
  • Draft proposals for fund raising based on organizational requirements, averaging 2 each month.
  • Undertake due diligence as per organsiational requirements.
  • Lead the process of initiating events/meetings organized with current, and potential donors and partners to establish successful funding and non-funding partnerships.
  • Support in organizing events every quarter and monthly meetings, with private sector, CSR Foundations and Bilateral Donors
    • Events marking 6 key UN days relevant to gender equality.
  • 8-10 existing Donor review meetings initiated and organized.
  • 8-10 Donor packages initiated and developed.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:   

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in business marketing, communications, or a related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in resource mobilization, business development, events and promotion, advertising, marketing and communications.
  • Previous experience of working with the private sector is preferred.
  • Knowledge of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc), spreadsheet and database packages, web-based management systems.
  • Demonstrable understanding of gender equality outcomes, or the ability to develop this knowledge.
  • Understanding of private sector capacity to support development for women.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Language:

  • Strong written skills in English and good command over Hindi.

Evaluation and Selection Criteria

Criteria for shortlisting of CVs will be based on the following assessment:

  • Required Degree and Qualification (5 points);
  • Minimum Experience relevant to the assignment (10 points);
  • Working knowledge and experience of writing on Gender Issues (5 points);

The evaluation process for selection of the candidate will be based on the following assessment:

  • Written Sample (20 points)
  • Interview (80 points)

  • For an assignment requiring travel, consultants of 65 years or more require full medical examination and statement of fitness to work prior to engagement in the consultancy.

Note:

In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW, OSAGI, INSTRAW and UNIFEM), which focused exclusively on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
