The UN Secretary-General established the UN SDG Action Campaign to inspire people and organizations from all backgrounds and every part of the world to take actions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, while holding decision-makers to account for progress society-wide. The UN SDG Action Campaign is working closely with cities and local governments to showcase how they are actively contributing to implement Agenda 2030, accelerating transformative action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals for all, and everywhere. The UN SDG Action Campaign, together with the office of UNDP in Jordan are supporting the Great Amman Municipality in implementing the Amman is listening project, an open-data platform to enable Amman’s residents to provide feedback on critical city services in real-time. This platform will help the city optimise service provision and manage crises by translating resident-driven data into knowledge to contribute to local decision making. The open data platform will be divided into three segments/interfaces: (i) community user experience (UX) and User Interface (UI), (ii) city officials, and (iii) investors. The platform aims to better understand residents’ needs and providing feedback on services and events in their immediate vicinity. This platform will also offer easy access to information about existing and planned services, thereby improving civic participation and trust in the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM). The development of this platform is part of a broader national drive to modernise Amman and enhance urban service delivery. It will aid in the smart transition of Amman, guide future investments, and ensure scalability and transferability to nearby cities. The open data platform will enable citizens to provide feedback quickly and suggest ideas to the Great Amman Municipality for better service delivery. To support the developing and implementing of this open data platform, UNDP seeks to recruit a Platform Product Analyst for the Amman is Listening project. The platform Analyst will be responsible over one of the components of the Amman is Listening project specifically dealing with the open data platform design.
