Antecedentes

UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. We help countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience in order to sustain development results.

UNDP is working to strengthen new frameworks for development, disaster risk reduction and climate change. We support countries' efforts to achieve the new Sustainable Development Goals, which will guide global development priorities through 2030. The key 2030 Agenda principle of leaving no one behind and stamping out inequality is at the core of everything we do.

UNDP focuses on helping countries build and share solutions in three main areas:

Sustainable development
Democratic governance and peacebuilding
Climate and disaster resilience

The Sustainable Finance Development Network (SFDN) was set up by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers at the recommendation of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) back in 2020.

Comprised of 21 member economies, APEC is a regional economic forum accounting for more than one third of the world’s population, representing approximately 62 percent of the global nominal GDP and 48 percent of world trade in 2021.

This diverse setting naturally creates a patchwork of regulation, policy, and practices in the uptake of sustainable finance in the region. The SFDN is the only platform providing private-public sector collaboration within APEC with the aim of accelerating the convergence of sustainable finance policies among APEC economies strengthening the region as they develop a common global sustainability framework. This is conducted primarily through the provision of recommendations via ABAC to the APEC Finance Ministers and coordination platform for implementation and capacity building. In 2023, SFDN will focus on 7 work areas namely Taxonomies, Disclosure, Carbon Markets, Infrastructure, MSME’s Transition, Innovation and Just Energy Transition. The UNDP Financial Centres for Sustainability, provides the secretariat.

In this context the intern will work closely with the SFDN Coordinator to achieve the SFDN’s mandate. The intern will support the development of recommendations via roundtables, communications and SFDN Secretariat functions.

Deberes y responsabilidades

The intern will assist in the following duties and responsibilities:

Supports the development of recommendations to APEC Finance Ministers.
Distils key recommendations and points through discussions ongoing in roundtables and workshops organised by SFDN.
Drafts the roundtable reports after the completion discussions and integrates comments.
Assist in the organisation of roundtables and support communications.
Support the SFDN’s visibility through content creation for key social media channels (blogs/articles/tweets).
Assists the SFDN Coordinator in convening the steering committee and consolidating reports.

Monitoring of key SFDN activities.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:

Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

be enrolled in a second university degree programme (Master Degree)
be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (Bachelor Degree)
have graduated with a university degree in fields such as economics, Development Economics, Sustainable Development, Sustainable Finance, finance, business administration, international relations, public administration or similar and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Language:

Fluent in English with excellent reading and writing skills.
