The Global ICT Advisory (GIA) unit of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is part of the Office of Information Management and Technology (OIMT) and it is responsible for supporting UNDP Country Offices around the world with ICT and Green Energy solutions. Our Unit offers a stimulating and versatile internship in an international environment with contact to various partners from some 166 countries with UNDP presence. We are a team who work in a dynamic and informal atmosphere, and we expect our interns to become vital members of the team. As an intern, you will be given tasks and opportunities that have a direct global impact on the development efforts of the international community. The UNDP/OIMT GIA business administrative internship programme enhances the academic life experience of passionate students or interns and empowers them to become socially responsible, innovative, and environmentally conscious leaders of tomorrow. We bridge the gap between textbook learning and real-time industry experience by providing interns with the opportunity to assist in directly liaising with Country Offices and service providers, as well as coordinating procurement, cost recovery and business consolidation work in GIA projects. As an intern in our Unit, you will also gain worldwide connections with other top-talented interns and UN staff from other agencies; our office is located at the UN City in Copenhagen, giving you the opportunity to interact with people outside the UNDP’s GIA unit.

Deberes y responsabilidades

  • Multitask across the unit´s key service lines and projects ranging from delivering innovative business solutions, sustainable Green energy services, and world-connecting ICT solutions;
  • Develop the financial budget with cost recovery measures; liaising with country offices for Service Delivery of orders, collections as well as asset management assignment and reporting;
  • Innovate new products and launch them in the E-Store; learning how to implement new business ideas, from start to implementation;
  • Develop a marketing strategy for new services to UNDP country offices; including Business development and branding of products and services through the intranet page;
  • Enhance the procurement and logistics efforts by efficiently and quality focused coordinating the distribution of products and services to country offices worldwide.
  • Develop quality focused Service Delivery procedures, instructions and templates from best practice and disseminate through a Practice Community;
  • Coordinating and leading the recruitment of new interns as well as maintaining the human resource on boarding/out bounding process;
  • Chairing and participate in global conference call with country offices around the world;
  • Participating and coordinating with colleagues and third party stakeholder in arranging workshops, conferences and inter-organisation meetings.
  • Supporting colleagues in administrative assignments and other ad hoc duties.
  • Work with Microsoft SharePoint applications, design intranet pages to share information with Country Offices;
  • Work with gathering, consolidating and analysing data from databases and reports.

Competencias

  • Efficient user of Microsoft Office tools, in particular Excel, and Exchange messaging platform;
  • SharePoint knowledge, preferably 2010 or later;
  • Knowledge of web standards and best practice;
  • HTML skills and web-design knowledge is an advantage;
  • Developing of quality centred and efficient Knowledge Management (KM) platform;
  • Promote the GIA’s overall ICT strategic framework and work plan pertaining to the minimum ICT standards, infrastructure, and connectivity dimensions;
  • Adhering to GIA unit´s ISO 9001:2008 certified and all works shall be compliant with the international standard with focus on high quality, continuous improvements and customer satisfaction;
  • Has interest and understanding of customer oriented Service delivery, with focus on reliable ICT solutions, green energy and sustainable advisory measures for development efforts;
  • Interest in developing sustainable solutions for country offices, focusing on ICT innovations green renewable energy that enhances field work;
  • Good analytical skills in gathering and consolidating data and research for practical implementation;
  • Good in organizing and structuring various tasks and responsibilities;
  • Communicates effectively when working in teams and independently;
  • Interest and motivation in working in an international organization;
  • Outgoing and initiative-taking person with a goal oriented mind-set;
  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability;

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in the field of international business, finance, administration, development, social sciences or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Knowledge and a user of Microsoft Office productivity tools
  • Experience with social media for developing marketing and promoting strategies;

Language:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English;
  • Knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.

Conditions:

  • UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship;
  • All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring Government or institution;
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;
  • The intern is responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;
  • Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship or for six months immediately following the expiration date of internship;
  • The intern must provide proof of enrollment in health insurance plan;
  • Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity;
  • Only those students who will return to their studies upon completion of their internship assignments are eligible.
  • The internship is unpaid. However, you will gain valuable insight into UNDP and a global network.
  • You are expected to work full time but flexibility is allowed for your education programme;
  • Eligibility for residency and undertaking internship in Denmark;
  • The intern will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his/her own arrangements for internship, travel, VISA, accommodation etc.
