Antecedentes

UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, operational since January 1 2011, works towards accelerating the United Nations’ goals on gender equality and the empowerment of women.

UN Women supports innovative and catalytic programmes, advocacy, and technical assistance related to women’s human rights in countries throughout the world as part of the overall UN development cooperation system.

UN Women Egypt Country Office is based in Cairo, and works in the three priority areas: Leadership and Political Participation; Economic Empowerment; Ending Violence Against Women;

Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Director and the direct supervision of Project Officer, the Programme and Finance Assistant provides timely financial support to project implementation consistent with UN WOMEN rules and procedures, and works closely with the programme team. 

Deberes y responsabilidades

  • Administration and implementation of program and operational financial services;
  • Support to management of the country office budget preparation and administration;
  • Accounting and administrative support;
  • Support to monitoring and implementation of the resources mobilization strategy;
  • Facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing;

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:

  • BA in Finance, Business or Public Administration or other relevant fields;

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible financial management or accounting experience is required, with knowledge of programme or project finance desirable;
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web based management systems;
  • Knowledge of IPSAS and/or IFRS required;
  • Previous work experience in development cooperation or the UN a clear advantage

Language:

  • Written and oral proficiency in English and Arabic is required.
