Antecedentes

This position is to provide administrative assistance within the context of the Programme for the Gulf region on Drug Control, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Reform to the Establishment of UNODC Office for the Gulf Region (AREU51). The incumbent will report directly to the Programme Coordinator.

Deberes y responsabilidades

Under the supervision of the Programme Coordinator and the overall guidance of the UNODC Representative in Gulf Region, the incumbent will carry out the following tasks:

  • Greet visitors, determine purpose of visit and announce visitors to appropriate personnel
  • Answer office calls, direct calls to appropriate personnel and take messages
  • Maintain safe, organized and clean reception area
  • Prepare routine correspondence, faxes, memoranda and reports
  • Perform general office/clerical work such as filing of materials, operating duplicating machines, or running errands.
  • Perform general office duties such as ordering supplies, maintaining records management systems, and performing basic bookkeeping work.
  • Compile input for activity reports on a weekly basis
  • Perform translation of ad hoc documents (English/Arabic)
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Programme Coordinator or the Head of the office.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

  • Secondary school education, a university degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Social Science, or a related field is desirable.
  • 3Three years of relevant administrative at national or international levels
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, ppt, etc);
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills, both written and oral proven.
  • Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic. Any other spoken language is desirable.
  • Experience in the UN Profile systems will be considered a plus;
  • Other desirable skills: Good computer skills; Ability to work in a diverse and multicultural team.
