Deberes y responsabilidades

Scope of the assignment:

  1. The principal responsibility of the international consultant is to coordinate the preparation of the CEO Endorsement request document and UNDP Project Document for the FSP and the POPs Tracking Tool using the standard GEF/UNDP templates. The templates of, CEO Endorsement request, UNDP Project Document and Chemicals Tracking Tool will be provided additionally.
  2. The international consultant will work under the overall guidance of the UNDP Belarus Country Office, in coordination with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus (Ministry of Environment), informed by guidance from the UNDP/GEF Regional Technical Advisor/Specialist in the IRH. While working on his/her assignment, the international consultant is expected to lead a team of national experts selected via a competitive process by the UNDP Belarus. The international consultant will work in close cooperation with the relevant local Belarusian agencies (ministries, research institutions, NGOs) and other stakeholders relevant for the subject-matter of the project, and will strive to create conditions conducive to strengthening the national ownership of the project.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

  • University degree in the fields related to chemicals management. Advanced degree is an advantage;
  • At least 10 years of experience in chemicals management with special focus on persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Prior experience with UNDP is a strong advantage;
  • Working experience in dealing with persistent organic pollutants and polychlorinated biphenyls;
  • Recent and proven successful experience in developing GEF projects under chemicals focal area;
  • Working experience in the CIS region, specifically in Belarus, is an asset.
