Antecedentes

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. 

Deberes y responsabilidades

  • Support and assist the Office of the Deputy Executive Director in managing the DED’s agenda and keeping track of important events, meetings, mission travels including through background research on events and invitations addressed to the DED;
  • Support work of the innovation unit under the supervision of the Deputy Executive Director, including working on specific innovation pilot project, preparing for events, updating the website, and conducting research;
  • Undertake research as required, for papers and analytical studies on policy issues pertaining to women’s rights, gender equality and women’s empowerment, including related to innovation and technology;
  • Maintain and improve the shared drive system for the Directorate and innovation unit; support its population with strategic and updated documents and video recordings;
  • Support the drafting of and/or review substantive correspondence as well as edit briefing notes, meeting notes prepared by others, notes to file and presentations;
  • In consultation with the Special Advisor and the Special Assistant, maintain the DED’s social media profile and gather feedback.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.

Language:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required; Working knowledge of another UN language a distinct advantage

Interns are not financially remunerated by UN Women.
