Antecedentes

Under the overall guidance of the Procurement Associate, the incumbent provides support to the procurement unit ensuring high quality of work, accurate, timely and properly recorded/documented service delivery. The Procurement Assistant promotes a client-oriented and consistent with rules and regulations approach in the Unit.
  
The Procurement Assistant works in close collaboration with the other service center team members in close collaboration with procurement colleagues, as well as other Operations, Programme and projects staff in the CO and UN agencies staff to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery.

Objective of the internship: to provide support to UNDP’s Procurement unit.

Eligibility for internships in UNDP

Be enrolled in a graduate school programme; enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Deberes y responsabilidades

Ensures efficient procurement support , focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Overall support to the procurement unit in all issues including drafting documents, following up on procurement issues, 
  • Preparation of routine letters, correspondence, memoranda and reports in accordance with procurement needs.
  • Maintenance of travel and contract logs
  • Maintenance of proper and efficient filing and organization system for procurement records and documents.
  • Extracting, inputting, copying and filing data from various sources.
  • Preparation of documents for cost recovery 
  • Tracking of procurement processes.
  • Reception of correspondence and delivery to the respective clients/units.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:

  • Enrolled student in a master degree programme or completed 4 years of full-time studies at a university in business or public administration or related social sciences; 
  • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Experience:

  • No experience required.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in Portuguese and good working knowledge of English.

Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP.

Conditions of internship:

  • UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship;
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship. 
  • All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring government or institutions;
  • Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship or for six months immediately following the expiration date of the internship;
  • Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
