Antecedentes

The UNDP internship programme offers an outstanding graduate-level students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to the development issues and a first-hand impression of the day-to-day working environment of UNDP. It is designed to complement development-oriented studies with practical experience in various professional aspects. 
Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP.

Objective of the internship: to provide students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds exposure to development issues and a first-hand impression of the day-to-day working environment of UNDP.

Under the overall guidance of the Programme Analyst, the Intern provides the analytical and research support services in the sphere of sustainable energy and environment, ensuring high quality of work, as well as accurate, timely and properly recorded/documented service delivery.

Deberes y responsabilidades

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Research on the topics of sustainability, environmental impact, renewable energy and energy efficiency, successful waste management practices on various international platforms;
  • Assistance in analysis to Energy & Environment portfolio projects on developing data collection methods;
  • Assistance in reviewing the project reports and providing written feedback for them;
  • Preparation of the analytical materials when needed;
  • Preparation of articles on the project events or topics related to the portfolio;
  • Informational support of Monitoring & Evaluation Team;
  • Contribution to the fast communication with stakeholders and project managers.

Provides effective support to the Environment & Energy portfolio of UNDP Ukraine focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Promotion of the values of sustainable and energy-efficient society with the use of international/foreign practices;
  • Development of a systematic base of information for portfolio projects;
  • Ensuring the permanent flow of information between project teams, M&E UNDP team and Communication UNDP team.

Decision making based on current research and data.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:

  • Enrolled student of graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in Ecology, Earth Sciences, Economics, Public Policy, Political Science, Public Administration or related field; or
  • Enrolled student in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent) in Ecology, Economics, Earth Sciences, Public Policy, Political Science, Public Administration or related field; or
  • Graduate student within one-year of graduation of any of the above.

Experience:

  • Computer literate in standard software applications;
  • Experience in handling of web based and database management systems is an asset ;
  • Experience in writing analytical articles, reports, other materials as well as drafting information notes ;
  • Experience in working or living in an international environment is an asset.

Language Requirements:

  • Excellent written and oral English on the level of a native speaker;
  • Knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is an asset.

Applicants for internships must submit the following documentation:

  • UNDP Internship Application form;
  • Copy of the most recent CV in English;
  • Letter of motivation;
  • Letter from his/her University confirming current enrollment and graduation date, if applicable, or copy of a Diploma for graduate students;
  • Copy of a school transcript;
  • Endorsement letter or letter of reference from a faculty member;
  • Other documents might be required.
