Antecedentes

UN Women in Bangladesh is supporting the Government of Bangladesh with the Rohingya humanitarian crisis response. UN Women has developed a humanitarian response programme in partnership with the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs to meet the specific needs of the most vulnerable and marginalized Rohingya Refugee Women and Girls and the women and girls in the host communities affected by the refugee influx in Cox’s Bazar. The objective of the programme is to ensure protection, as well as equitable and safe access of the most vulnerable and marginalized Rohingya women to humanitarian assistance and information, while assisting them to live with dignity. The programme also promotes women’s participation and leadership in the camps and host community and peace and social cohesion building activities. UN Women also co-chairs the Gender in Humanitarian Action Working Group (GiHA) for the Rohingya Refugee Response with UNHCR to promote gender-responsive humanitarian action across humanitarian agencies in Cox’s Bazar and hosts the GenCap Advisor for the Inter-Sector Coordination Group.

UN Women is looking for a consultant to be located in the Cox’ Bazar Sub-Office, to strengthen monitoring and reporting, development of communication materials and proposals, and the management of the Gender in Humanitarian Action Working Group.

Objectives:

  • Strengthen monitoring and reporting of UN Women supported activities;
  • Develop communication materials and proposals in a timely manner;
  • Support management of the Gender in Humanitarian Action Working Group

Deberes y responsabilidades

The consultant will be responsible for:

  • Working with UN Women’s implementing partner to strengthen their monitoring and reporting system to accurately track the reach, progress and results of UN Women’s support;
  • Preparing high quality reports to donor and the government;
  • Preparing internal reports and updates on UN Women’s Rohingya response activities;
  • Preparing resource mobilization proposals;
  • Preparing communication material (briefs, web articles, visual documentation, etc.) on UN Women’s Rohingya response activities.
  • Support the co-chairs convene the GiHA working group meetings, facilitate follow-up action and preparation of briefs and tools in close coordination with the GenCap Advisor.

Deliverables:

  • Bi-weekly workplan and task completion reports;
  • Monitoring and reporting guidance for implementing partner (as required but at least 1);
  • GiHA meeting agenda and minutes (every other week);
  • GiHA briefs and advocacy documents (at least 2);
  • Donor proposals (on demand);
  • UN Women annual report inputs (once in December);
  • UN Women Rohingya response update (as required but at least one);
  • Web story (at least 1);
  • Other ad hoc reports and briefs (at least 2).

Reporting System:

The consultant will report to a Head of Sub-Office, UN Women Cox’s Bazar.  

Duty station:

The consultant will be based in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

Schedule of payment:

Monthly lump sum payment based on number of days worked and submission of two bi-weekly accomplishment reports of tasks agreed with Head of Sub-Office in bi-weekly workplan certified by Head of Sub-Office. (Reports due: 15 October, 15 November, 15 December, 31 December)

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences such development studies/law/human rights with a focus on gender.

Experiences

  • At least 3 years of international working experience in social development and/or humanitarian assistance with a focus on gender and marginalized populations;
  • Experience developing monitoring and reporting tools in a development or humanitarian context;
  • Experience with proposal writing and donor report preparation;
  • Work experience with UN organizations would be an asset.

Language

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, as well as strong communication and presentation skills (in English).
