Antecedentes

Established in 1976; the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is one of the United Nations Agencies working in Jordan and is the main convener of sustainable development. Since its founding, UNDP has worked to build institutions, increase resilience, empower nations, and contribute to major development gains. Recently, the organization has been focused on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Jordan, which came out in January 2016.

UNDP is uniquely positioned to empower youth, as the world faces increasing violent conflicts, political unrest and environmental threats. Jordan’s key strategic position and relative stability in the middle east is challenged by many factors. One of these factors is its large population of youth; which makes up 35% of the total population in the country. UNDP’s role in supporting and building relationships regularly with youth can be particularly crucial in investing, training, empowering and enabling them to be engines of economic and social progress.
