Antecedentes

The Engagement Unit (EU) in the Integrated Talent Management Team (ITM) of the Office of Human Resources (OHR)/BoM has been set up to advance the implementation of the UNDP people strategy whereby in addition to ensuring availability of required talent in the organization it is equally important to ensure that all UNDP employees are engaged, i.e. “positively present” at work and deliver their full potential in the environment of high performance, inclusiveness, openness and trust. In line with this mandate, the Engagement Unit covers the following areas: staff engagement, occupational health and well-being, diversity and inclusiveness, including gender parity, and performance management.

In fulfilling its objectives, the Engagement Unit works to (1) promote and foster a strategic dialogue with senior management on issues that drive employee engagement and foster the strengthening of the organizational culture of inclusiveness and high performance; (2) develop and support implementation of specific policies as well as institutional mechanisms and corporate solutions that enable employee engagement, diversity and inclusiveness, especially gender parity, and high performance among employees; and (3) develop and provide guidance and other support to leaders/managers on enhancing their competencies and skills as well as attitudes and behaviours critical for creating sustainable staff engagement.

The job of the intern will require creativity, enthusiasm in learning, and the ability to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality of output working under pressure. The ability to use good judgment and experience working in a multi-cultural setting is critical.

Deberes y responsabilidades


Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Human Resources Specialist from the Engagement Team, the intern will:

  • Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:
  •  Support the process of translating an online training course on prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse into additional UN languages;
  • Draft and design communications on the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse targeting managers, staff, contractors and beneficiaries;
  • Support research related to behavior change and sexual exploitation and abuse.

Staff health and wellbeing

  • Support the roll-out of staff health and wellbeing initiatives (such as physical exercise challenges, or online stress management webinars);
  • Support the organization and roll-out of a workshop on occupational safety, health and wellbeing;
  • Assist in the drafting of regular staff safety, health and wellbeing newsletters;
  • Assist in developing presentation materials for meetings, workshops, webinars, etc.;
  • Research on industry standard and best practices, with a special focus on staff safety, health and wellbeing;
  • Assist in fact checking and proof reading;
  • Support other activities, as requested

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:

  • Student currently enrolled in a Master programme. 

Experience:

  • Knowledge of either one of the two topics (i.e. sexual or gender based violence or occupational safety and health) is desirable.

Language:

  • Fluency in English;
  • Working knowledge of another UN language is an asset.

Conditions:

  • Any individual hired under these conditions are not staff and therefore, are not covered by UN Staff Regulations and Rules;
  • UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship;
  • All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring Government or institution;
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;
  • The intern is responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;
  • Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship or for six months immediately following the expiration date of internship;
  • The intern must provide proof of enrollment in health insurance plan;
  • Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity;

Only those students who will return to their studies upon completion of their internship assignments are eligible.
