Antecedentes

Unit/Project Background
Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Partnerships Specialist, the intern will assist the National Committees (NC) team in researching, editing and drafting content for various communications materials in the National Communications portfolio such as the quarterly newsletter; extranet; NC webpage on Sharepoint; among others. A work plan with achievements for the duration of the Internship and learning opportunities will be agreed upon. This internship will be for six months.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write blogs, feature and success stories about results achieved and efforts pursued under UN Women projects and programmes.
  • Support the writing, translation, design and production of communication outputs, such as in drafting press releases and publications, and dissemination to National Committees.
  • Assist in boosting National Committees’ presence in online communications and social media.
  • Provide technical support to National Committees’ in the development and appropriate use of communication and advocacy tools (i.e. newsletter, websites, posters, brochures, pamphlets).
  • Assist the Individual Giving Team in organizing events, launches of publications, seminars and conferences, global campaigns.

  • Experience with online content development.
  • Experience in communications and social media outreach.
  • Proficient in using new technologies, web-based platforms and social media networks; familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite and other design platforms.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, attention to spelling and ability to follow style guides.
  • Fluency in English. Preference will be given to candidates also fluent in French and/or Spanish.
  • Familiarity with women’s rights issues or international development/relations.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education

  • The intern must have studied International Relations, Political Science, Communications or other similar subject at the university level.
  • The intern must either be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent) or has graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.

Language:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required; Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is preferred.
