Antecedentes

Under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Economic Advisor and the Country Economist, the Non-Paid University Intern supports the provision of services ensuring high quality, accuracy, and consistency of work. The Intern promotes a client-oriented and consistent with rules and regulations approach in the Unit.
 

 

Deberes y responsabilidades

  • Short Technical notes on development issues.
  • Information gathering on socioeconomic issues.
  • Power point presentation.
  • Meeting Minutes.
  • Technical translations from English to Portuguese.
  • Support to technical and logistics arrangements for workshops and meetings hosted by the UNDP in the areas of the competency of the Senior Economic Advisor.
  • Others required in the areas of the work of the Senior Economist.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

  • Education:

Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements in University student of Economics or International Relations 

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) relevant to the internship;
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) also in a relevant area for the internship program;
  • Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
  • The intern should have should be available to be in the office from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Experience: 

  • Knowledge of Power Point, Word and Excell (This is extremely important)
  • Knowledge of on-line translation tools from English to Portuguese and vice-versa (google translator)

Languages:

  • Intermediate knowledge of English
  • Fluent in Portuguese 

Other: 

  • Respect for the principles of the United Nations Charter and the UNDP Statement of Purpose;
  • Expected to demonstrate a keen interest in the field of development.

Conditions

Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of:

  • The nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or
  • The intern, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence through private sources.

Interns are responsible for securing adequate medical insurance for the duration of their internship with UNDP and must provide a medical certificate of good health prior to starting the internship. UNDP will not reimburse the medical insurance of the intern. Any costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during an internship assignment will be the responsibility of the intern.

Applicants for internships must show proof of valid medical insurance for Mozambique. For applicants which are neither nationals or residents of the duty station, the insurance must include adequate coverage in the event of an injury or illness during the internship duration which:

  • Requires transportation to the home country or country of residence for further treatment;
  • Results in death and requires preparation and return of the remains to the home country, or country of residence.

UNDP accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal effects that may occur during the internship.
