Antecedentes

The Montreal Protocol / Chemicals & Waste Intern for LAC will be recruited to assist in the implementation of the Projects carried out by the National Ozone Unit in partnership with the UNDP Regional hub for LAC.
The Projects are mainly funded by the Multilateral Fund of the Montreal Protocol and the Global Environment Facility and seek to phase out Montreal Protocol Controlled Substances and Mitigate Climate Change. 
The Intern will support the management of all aspects of the projects and will liaise with UNDP Country Offices in LAC, under the supervision of Kasper Koefoed.
The Intern should highly motivated, enthusiastic, and capable of working independently. Should have the ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders from agencies, non-governmental organizations, and research institutions.
 

Deberes y responsabilidades


• Assist in the organization of two Regional Workshops (one for Latin America and one for the Caribbean) for the implementation of the Kigali Amendment in the regions.
• Support streamlining of Montreal Protocol Projects and related programmes; ensuring compliance with regulations, procedures, reporting requirements and ethical standards.

Project Assurance and Oversight:
• Support the Programme Assistant in Procurement processes for Country Offices and  in the production of the Annual Operating Plans and Annual Procurement Plans (and their corresponding updates); according to UNDP rules and regulations
• Support the Programme Assistant in the oversight of budgetary expenditure and review progress and achievement of results as established on the Annual Operating Plans.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Qualifications:

  •  Be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (second university degree or higher)
  •  Be enrolled in the final academic year of a university degree program (minimum Bachelor´s level or equivalent)
  •  A university degree as defined in (a) and (b) above and, if selected, must start the internship within one year of graduation.

Experience:

  • It is desirable that the intern has some previous experience working on projects related to international cooperation on any other relevant field to development cooperation.

Language Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of English and Spanish (written and spoken).

Important: Please note that internships with UNDP are not paid.
Candidates who are shortlisted for an interview must submit prior to the interview the following documents:
Official letter from the University confirming enrollment in a graduate-level degree programme;
Copy of school transcript or copy of the University degree;
Letter of endorsement from a senior faculty member who has directly supervised the student in the recent past and who is fully acquainted with the student performance;
A brief paper setting out the reasons why he/she is seeking an internship with UNDP and what is expected from the experience.

Note:
UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship;
UNDP only accept interns for a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 6 months,
All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring, Government or Institution,
UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising form accidents and / or illness or death incurred during the internship;
Proof of medical insurance valid for the location in which the internship will be carried out,
The intern is responsible for obtaining necessary visa and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed,
Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP, during the period of the internship or for six months immediately following the expiration date of internship,
The intern must provide proof of enrollment in health insurance plan,
Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
