Antecedentes

Background

The Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy (BERA) is responsible for UNDP’s external relations and advocacy functions. The Bureau leads and supports the organization in cultivating, building and nurturing strategic relationships and alliances that are essential for advancing and successfully achieving the mission of UNDP. These relationships encompass a wide range and number of key constituencies and development partners, that includes programme countries, existing and prospective donor countries/emerging economic powers, multilateral institutions such as the IFIs, the European Commission, civil society, the private sector, foundations, academia and think tanks, the wider UN system, various UN intergovernmental bodies, as well as global, regional and national media.

Within BERA, the Communications Group leads and manages external communications through strategy, media, digital communications, marketing, branding and global storytelling. The Digital and Online team is responsible for developing and maintaining UNDP’s digital properties including website, blogs and social media. 

Project Description  

The Digital Communications team works closely with the other teams in the Communications group to ensure that the tone and visual representation of UNDP branded products are consistent. Reporting to the team manager, the Graphic Design Intern will support the team conceptualizing and creating web and social media visual assets for campaigns, events and other promotional purposes. 

Deberes y responsabilidades

The interested candidate will:

  • Contribute with creative ideas to reach and engage different audiences;
  • Conceptualize and create digital communication products for different digital platforms in English, French and Spanish, including videos and infographics;
  • Propose and update designs for corporate promotional products;
  • Provide overall graphic design support to the Digital team.

  • Must be able to work in a multicultural environment and be aware of political sensitivities
  • Familiarity with main social media platforms

 

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education

 Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent);
  • Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Experience

  • Experience in graphic design / multimedia design;
  • Experience designing compelling visuals for social media, including infographics and GIFs;
  • Motion graphic knowledge is a plus;
  • Working knowledge of brand principles and marketing is a plus.

Languages:

Fluent in written and spoken English;
Knowledge of French or Spanish an asset

Availability:

Must be available at least three days a week.

UNDP Terms & Conditions for Internship

  • Any individual hired under these conditions are not staff and therefore, are not covered by UN Staff Regulations and Rules
  • UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship
  • All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring Government or institution
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship
  • The intern is responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed
  • The intern must provide proof of enrollment in health insurance plan;
  • Interns are not considered staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity
  • The internship period shall not be foreshortened for the purposes of allowing an intern to apply for a position
