UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

UN Women is implementing a new global programme on Making Migration Safe for Women which will be initially piloted across four countries in Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali and Niger) with the goal of ensuring that the development and implementation of national migration policies and laws in the selected pilot countries are gender-responsive, and that international norms and standards for protecting and promoting migrant women’s rights are strengthened. The programme aims to improve the use and collection of sex-disaggregated data and provide robust evidence and research on migrant women to inform national policy making. It also seeks to enable migrant women and their organizations to advocate for the protection of their rights and strengthen the alliance building of migrant women’s organizations.

Under the overall supervision of the Country Representative in Niger and reporting to the Global Programme Coordinator, the National Programme Coordinator in Niger is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing UN Women interventions in Niger. The National Programme Coordinator works in close collaboration with the UN Women Regional Office and HQ staff, Government officials, multi and bi-lateral donors and civil society organizations ensuring successful UN Women programme implementation.
