UN Women is launching a new E-Recruit system. As part of the pilot, this vacancy is also posted in the new system.

All applications for this vacancy must be submitted at https://unwomen.taleo.net/careersection/unw_external/jobdetail.ftl?job=20000005&tz=GMT-05%3A00&tzname=America%2FNew_York.

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

Created by UN Women and launched by Emma Watson in 2014, the HeForShe solidarity movement for gender equality provides a systematic approach and targeted platform on which men and boys can engage and become change agents towards the achievement of gender equality. HeForShe invites men and boys to build on the work of the women’s movement as equal partners. Getting to a world where women and men are equal is not just a matter of bringing men to the cause. The goals of HeForShe are much bigger: systematic, structural change that will equalize the economic, social and political realities for women and men.

Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, the Communication and Advocacy Specialist is responsible for developing and executing goal-oriented strategies based on audience research, message framing, and content to increase awareness around male allyship. The Communications and Advocacy Lead is both familiar with how to manage the press / media in preparation for and during events as well as an extremely talented writer with a knack for crafting compelling content while balancing style and substance with a particular focus on partnerships, social media to highlight the importance of male engagement and the role of masculinities. This will be based on solid understanding of how men and boys are in several ways gatekeepers for gender equality and the various forms of masculinities, how they affect women, as well as how established gender dynamics, including the notion of dominant masculinities can and are detrimental to men themselves.

This is an ideal position for a hardworking, attentive, and outgoing individual looking to work in a collaborative and collegial workplace learning from, with, among smart, interesting, and fun professionals.
