Antecedentes

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women’s rights at the center of all its efforts, UN Women leads and coordinates United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It provides strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors.

UN Women works at multiple levels to respond to the specific needs of vulnerable women in Jordan. UN Women partners with the Minister of Social Development to run Oasis Centers for women and girls across Jordan. Each center provides multi-sectoral services including livelihoods support, GBV prevention and protection and education, leadership and civic engagement opportunities.  The overall goal of UN Women’s interventions is to empower vulnerable women through increased access to opportunities and meaningful engagement in community life.

In this framework, UN Women is seeking to recruit a Senior Field Assistants who will support the  implementation of activities at the field level.  The Senior Field Assistants will work under the supervision and guidance of the Programme Analyst and has daily contact with the Programme Analyst and with functional units at the Country Office.

Deberes y responsabilidades

The Senior Field Assistant will coordinate project activities and operations with the target municipalities, NGOs and CBOs in the assigned governorate and will also be responsible to engage directly with community members and community institutions. She/he will report to the Programme Analyst of UN Women.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow up with local partners on implementing activities, including the monitoring of work plans and activities.
  • Report on daily basis activity progress.
  • Closely work with the project team to facilitate the preparations and implementation of field activities, events, assessments, and support if needed admin/finance exercises including petty procurement, purchasing, invoicing and reporting.
  • Facilitate meetings with counterparts in the governorates.
  • Events and meetings are properly scheduled and organized.
  • The Senior Field Assistant is responsible for on-the-ground preparations of activities in the assigned governorate and in coordination with the Programme Analyst for the implementation of the project activities, events, and communications. 
  • Participates in internal and external coordination meetings representing the project;
  • Support the production of any material needed for information purposes, such as reports, articles for the web, brochures, films, etc.
  • Follow up operations in the field, day to day management and delivery of the activities and facilitation of knowledge sharing.
  • Work with the UN Women protection focal point to maintain a function referral system in each center. This includes:
  • Providing on the spot referrals where the protection focal point is unavailable, as in line with internal UN Women guidance and the Jordan Interagency SOPs on protection referrals;
  • Undertaking protection related awareness raising in all centers.
  • Develop ideas and build relevant linkages to ensure sufficient relevant activities for women and girls at risk;
  • Ensuring the continuation of viable volunteer related opportunities in each center;
  • Regularly participate and contribute to relevant interagency coordination spaces as requested;
  • Provide timely data collection for reporting purpose;
  • Participate in relevant trainings and workshops as required;
  • Timely reports are shared.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or any related fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in administration and coordination
  • Proven experience working on project implementation in a humanitarian or development setting
  • Proven experience related to gender equality and women’s empowerment

Languages: 

Fluent written and spoken English and Arabic.
