Antecedentes

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has entered a partnership with Fulbright University Vietnam (FUV) and the National Center for Analysis and Forecasting (NCIF) of the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) to organize the semi-annual forum Viet Nam Economic Pulse (VEP). VEP will invite policy makers, scholars and businesspeople to discuss recent developments in the Vietnamese economy and to take a closer look at one special topic each at each forum. The first forum will be held in Ha Noi in July, 2021 and the second is scheduled for Ho Chi Minh City in December.

The three partners will jointly organize the forums, with UNDP taking the lead in the initial stages. The interns will support UNDP staff in planning and implementing the forums, including building a website for the forum and a presence in other social media; research assistance for experts and speakers; identifying and inviting speakers; editing and publishing documents; inviting participants, selecting and preparing the venue; and evaluating the implementation and impact of the first two forums.  

Overall objective: The interns will assist UNDP in implementing Viet Nam Economic Pulse forums in July and December, 2021.

Concrete objectives of the internship include:

  • Assist the partners in establishing a web and social media presence for VEP;
  • Provide research support to experts and speakers, compiling new data releases for GSO and producing charts and tables at the direction of the UNDP Senior International Economist;
  • Assist the partners in compiling lists of experts, resource people and participants;
  • Assist the partners in editing and preparing documents for publication and distribution;  
  • Assist the partners in selecting and preparing the venues for the forums
  • Assist the partners in evaluating the implementation and impact of the forums.
  • Other necessary tasks to support the implementation of VEP.

The interns will work under the overall supervision of UNDP Viet Nam Assistant Resident Representative/Head of Inclusive Growth Unit and the supervision and technical guidance of UNDP Viet Nam International Senior Economist.

Monitoring and Progress Control will be conducted against the above tasks, deliverables and timelines as indicated in the section 3.

Competencias

  • Interns must demonstrate a high level of fluency in Vietnamese and English. Fluency in other languages is an advantage.
  • Good computer skills 
  • Teamwork player

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

  • Last year students of bachelor program.
  • UNDP imposes no restrictions on the interns’ academic fields of study, but preference will be given to prospective interns who have shown an interest in international development, public policy, international affairs, human development (health, education and training), and business and management. These interests may be reflected in the applicants’ coursework or in extra-curricular activities such as internships and employment.
  • Facility with word processing, spreadsheet, email and other communication applications is required. Experience using data analysis software and developing web pages for publication is an advantage.
