The Human Resource Division is responsible for the timely, accurate, equitable, effective and efficient delivery of all human resources management services, i.e. strategic staff planning, recruitment, staff administration, organizational and design and learning/career development, for the continuous development and improvement in human resource operations, policies, and methods to align with UN Women evolving business needs and for providing advisory support to the Executive Director in the formulation and implementation of UN Women's overall mission, strategy and plans of actions.

The Human Resource Workplace Relations team is responsible for supporting the creation and maintenance of an inclusive, diverse, productive and positive work environment in UN Women. Under the supervision and guidance of the HR Workplace Relations Advisor, the Workplace Relations Analyst will provide technical support on matters related to workplace matters and standards of conduct but will also assist in the areas of safeguarding at country, regional and HQ level.

The incumbent may be required to travel to UN Women regional and/or country offices.

Duties and Responsibilities

Support workplace relations and safeguarding related work, including:

  • Support the implementation of the inclusive workplace strategy in line with UN Women Strategic Plan 2022-2025.
  • Support the development and/or the implementation of UN Women policies and procedures related to workplace relations and safeguarding.
  • Support the workplace relations team with the research, analysis, drafting, and coordination associated with the handling of workplace-related issues, and grievances.
  • Provide guidance on standards of conduct and UN Women policies related to workplace relations.
  • Contribute to the implementation and reporting of UN system-wide requirements in relation to standards of conduct.
  • Draft talking points, briefing notes and inputs concerning workplace relations and safeguarding issues.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the areas of workplace relations and safeguarding.
  • Participate in working groups in relation to workplace matters when required.

Support analysis and reporting: 

  • Contribute to the drafting of inputs/responses in relation to requests and reviews of inter alia the Joint Inspection Unit of the United Nations system (JIU), the Advisory Committee on Oversight (ACO), the Audit and Investigation report or any other queries.
  • Assist in the preparation of quality documentation and reports on the impact of workplace relations efforts in UN Women.
  • Support the collection, preparation, and visualization of accurate and quality analysis and statistics of workplace related data.
  • Research trends and systemic issues on workplace related issues.

Provide awareness-raising and training support on workplace matters, standards of conduct and safeguarding:

  • Prepare and maintain resources to help educate staff in respect of rights, responsibilities, standards of conduct and difficulties associated with the workplace.
  • Assist in developing and conducting training on safeguarding, workplace relations and standard of conduct across the organization and in different languages.
  • Contribute to outreach and awareness-raising efforts as well as information sharing and dissemination across the organization.
  • Draft up-to-date content for workplace relations materials.
  • Monitor and track workplace relations, standards of conduct and safeguarding training participation.

Required Skills and Experience

Education: 

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in human rights, law, development studies, gender studies, social sciences, or another related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience: 

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant progressively responsible work experience in human resources, workplace relations, legal and/or grievances is required.
  • Experience in the use of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) is required.
  • UN system experience is desirable.
  • Experience in interactive/innovative training approaches for virtual and in person training is desirable.
  • Experience in analysis, drafting and reporting within the UN context is desirable.

Languages: 

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another UN official working language is an asset.
