The Office of Communications at UNDP is at the forefront of advancing online communications and outreach within the organization.
Project Description
The Digital Communications team works closely with the other teams in the Communications group to ensure that the tone and visual representation of UNDP branded products are consistent. Reporting to the team’s Visual Designer, the Intern will support the team conceptualizing and creating web and social media visual assets (Gifs, infographics, carousels, collages, illustrations, etc) for campaigns, events and other promotional purposes.
Duties and Responsibilities
The interested candidate will:
- Produce visual work that supports the implementation and achievement of UNDP’s Digital Strategy;
- Create graphics (e.g. infographics, illustrations, animated GIFs) and other visual material for UNDP’s social media channels intending to influence and/or develop positive public perceptions of the corporate brand;
- Design visually-engaging digital products including graphics and illustrations for single-page applications, microsites, and feature stories;
- Participate in ideation and conceptualization of campaigns and promotion material;
- Illustrate, animate and produce multimedia pieces to promote UNDP’s communication efforts in UNDP’s homepage.
- Test and introduce new visual methods and ideas to advance UNDP's digital communications;
- Perform other duties within your functional profile as assigned and deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.

Required Skills and Experience
Education
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) Be enrolled in a graduate school Programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree Programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent);
(c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
Experience
- No work experience is required to apply for this internship. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. Professional work experience, if any, will be considered a plus.
- Proven experience in multimedia design for social media and web is preferred;
- Proven experience in designing infographics is highly desirable;
- Experience and proficiency with Photoshop, llustrator, After Effects and Media Encoder for 2D animation is preferred.
- Ability to produce high quality products under tight deadlines;
- Knowledge of and previous experience in UNDP/UN agency and/or similar organization is considered an asset.
Language
- Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English are required.
- A working knowledge of French and Spanish is desirable.
Availability
- Must be available at least four days a week.
