Background

The ongoing crisis in Ukraine remains extremely serious and is affecting 3.7 million people including 580,000 children. UNICEF continues to respond to humanitarian needs and advocate on behalf of children in Ukraine within and outside of the country with donors, media and public at large.

The Planning, Monitoring and Reporting Consultant provides professional expertise and assistance to the UNICEF Ukraine Country Office for the implementation, monitoring and reporting on the emergency response efforts of UNICEF in Ukraine.

Duties and Responsibilities

Expected results/outcome of the consultancy:

• Prepare the timely submission of progress reports to the donor as per reporting obligations and responses to specific inquiries from the donor.

• Support the Country Office in the development of quarterly work-plans and monitoring and evaluation plans, including date and requirements and template to facilitate effective progress reporting.

• Monitor progress towards overall programme results; collection of data as indicated in the monitoring framework

• Facilitate collaboration with NGOs and local partners in order to improve the ability to collect and disseminate data and information.

• Undertaken regular filed visits to gather the information on activities and results and ensure that all data from the field is captured, documented and reported in a results-based and timely manner for the donor and internal purposes.

Deliverables based on the work plan:

• Powerpoint presentations, Factsheets, Q&As, briefing notes are developed per the request

• Regular updates to Emergency Coordinator on the implementation of the work plan

• Regular field visits to support project implementation

• Timely submission of reports to the donors

• Participation in regular programme working groups.

Competencies

EDUCATION

• Preferably an advanced degree in social sciences, communication or knowledge management

 

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

• Fluency in English, Russian/Ukrainian is an advantage

Required Skills and Experience

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Five years progressively responsible experience in humanitarian/situation reporting, report-writing, monitoring and evaluation or related field.

• Analytical and conceptual ability; communication skills.

• Planning and monitoring skills; ability to organize work and projects.

• Professional technical knowledge/expertise in data analysis and reporting

• Computer skills, including internet navigation, and various office applications.

• Fluency in English and another UN language required. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
