Background

Under the guidance and supervision of the Operations Manager and direct supervisor, performs duties as Driver and duties as Building Clerk. 

In the role of Driver, the incumbent provides reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work. Demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

In the role of Building Clerk, the incumbent assists in maintaining and repairing of office equipment, furniture, electric, heating, water, sewage and ventilation system. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Provision of reliable and secure driving services
  • Proper use of vehicle
  • Day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle 
  • Availability of documents/ supplies for vehicles 
  • Assists in maintaining and repairing of office equipment, furniture, electric, heating, water, sewage and ventilation system. 
  • Assists in relocation of equipment and relocation space

-As a driver ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items and b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, visa and customs formalities arrangement when required. 
-Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
-Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc. 
-Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts.
-Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of any UNDP Kosovo Office vehicle involvement in accidents.

-As a Building Clerk ensures that properties are maintained in accordance with the instructions. As directed by Operations Manager and direct supervisor arrange maintenance and repairs of properties which are to be carried out expeditiously, economically and to an acceptable standard.
-Ensures that any relocation of equipment and space as directed by management are completed promptly and in an efficient manner.
-Ensures that generator and electric system is maintained both mechanically and electronically at any time, as well as office supplies (hygienic material, electric material etc.)

Required Skills and Experience

Education: 

  • Secondary Education. 
  • Valid Driver’s license.  
  • Vocational training is considered an asset.

Experience:

  • 5 years’ work experience as a Driver /Building Clerk; 
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repairs;
  • Safe driving record is a distinct advantage; 
  • Experience driving a 4X4 vehicles in rough terrain;
  • Previous work with State institutions and/or international organizations would be considered an asset;
  • Excellent knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods;
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, carpentry techniques and methods of installation and other systems.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in Albanian and English. 
  • Knowledge of Serbian language is an advantage.
