Background

UNDP supports implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In Indonesia, UNDP works with the Government to integrate SDGs into national plan and policies.”

Under the direct supervision of the Field Security Coordination Officer (FSCO) Central Region, the Local Security Assistant assists in the implementation of security operations and all matters relating to the management of safety and security for UN personnel and operations in the Central region areas. The CSA UNDSS Indonesia will provide the overall guidance.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assists the FSCO Central Region in collecting, updating and communicating information regarding the security situation in the Central region areas:

  • Regularly visit and liaise with the host government safety and security organizations including national and local provincial authorities, as well as non-governmental organizations and other individuals/organizations as necessary and maintain updated list of all contacts;
  • Provide timely and accurate information that may affect the safety and security UN operations;
  • Maintain updated warden list of all UNAFP’s in the AOR;
  • Regular visit to UNAFP offices and meeting with ASFP and wardens.
  • Maintains updated list of all office locations including project offices in the AOR.
  • Assist UNAFP’s during conduct of emergency drills like fire evacuation, bomb threat, head count, communication exercise etc.
  • Regularly monitor all media and reports from other sources. Maintain and regularly update an information database of all safety and security related information.
  • Assist staff when any security support is needed.

 

2. Assists in maintaining the Security Plan, including updating staff lists:

  • Helps in the preparation and review of the UN Security Plan of AOR;
  • Supports actions during the implementation of the Security Plan, as required.

 

3. Assists the FSCO Central Region in monitoring compliance with Residential Security Measures (RSM) established for the duty station.

 

4. Assists in reporting security incidents affecting UN staff, offices and assets, and assists in the preparation of security reports, such as the Security Incident Report, daily/weekly security reports, Security Assessments, FSSS for submission to country office.

 

5. Provides support to FSCO Central Region in organizing and conducting training courses on security awareness and preparedness, and providing security orientation briefing to newly assigned staff members.

6. Performs other tasks assigned by the FSCO Central Region

  • Maintains office inventory lists
  • Any other administrative and finance related tasks

 

7. The incumbent of the position should avoid any kind of discriminatory behavior including gender discrimination and ensure that

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

Security Management, International Relations, Business/Public administration or other relevant field is preferable.

 

Experience:

Min 3 years of experiences for bachelor’s degree and / or 5 years experiences for Diploma degree

Prior experience with the UN system or an international NGO is desirable.

 

Language Requirements:

Fluency in the written and oral English and Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia)

 

Other Skills and Requirements:

  • Previous law enforcement background is an advantage
  • Knowledge of host country safety security regulations;
  • Solid computers skills (MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint);
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel and physically fit
