Background

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls, the empowerment of women, and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women's rights at the centre of all its efforts, UN Women leads and coordinates United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world.

To support member states in implementing the 2030 Agenda, UN Women’s gender data programme ‘Making Every Woman and Girl Count’ (Women Count) aims to affect a radical shift in the availability, accessibility anduse of data and statistics on key aspects of gender equality and women’s empowerment. Women Count is a multi-year and multi-country programme of work, supported by global and regional activities linking normative and technical work on gender statistics at the global level to the regional and national levels.

Women Count is a global programme operating within the Research and Data section at UN Women HQ. Projects operate in three regions and 12 countries.

The Women Count programme at the HQ level develops regular knowledge products, supports the regional and country projects in their visual communications, and maintains the Women Count Data Hub, which produces gender data stories accompanied by data visualizations. Further, the programme develops social media assets to promote work on knowledge generation and programme results. In this context, the Women Count team at the Research and Data section seeks to enlist the services of a Graphic Design Consultant to support the Outreach Specialist in the production of visual assets, in line with both UN Women’s corporatebranding guidelines and Women Count’s branding guidelines, for use by the global programme.
