UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women's rights at the centre of all its efforts, UN Women will lead and coordinate United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It will provide strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States' priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors.

At UN Women Headquarters (HQ), the Strategic Partnership Division includes the Resource Mobilization Section, with the following mandates:

  • Maintain and enhance donor relations, to strengthen implementation of the UN Women Resource Mobilization Strategy.
  • Support compliance with obligations to donors and other partners, enhancing general institutional accountability.
  • Help to emphasize the value of funding partnerships and contributions.

To carry out this work, we maintain and share comprehensive electronic documentation, and support global information availability, essential to the further growth and development of UN Women. Our work complies with United Nations and international practice and standards.

As part of ongoing efforts to further streamline and strengthen our work on resource mobilization, the Partner Intelligence, Visibility & Analysis Team (PIVA) of the Resource Mobilization section focuses on data collection and organization, analysis, forecasting and synthesizing to enhance decision-making on partnerships, partner visibility and interaction, as well as knowledge management and sharing.

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the PIVA Team Lead and in close collaboration with other members of the Resource Mobilization section, the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Specialist will   distill the information related to partnerships with the public sector and disseminate the knowledge to support UN Women's coordinated engagement with partners on funding.

Devoirs et responsabilités

Coordinate the partner intelligence research, analysis and creation of products to support implementation of resource mobilization strategies:

  • Develop research/analysis of partner trends in funding.
  • Perform comparative funding assessment of other UN agencies, funds and programmes.
  • Conduct ad-hoc partner studies, research, and other activities to identify funding opportunities.

Develop intelligence and knowledge products related to partnerships with the public sector and disseminate internally to support institutional capacity on partner relations:

  • Design, develop and update partner intelligence materials, in close collaboration with Partner Focal Points.
  • Maintain on-line repository, and analyze the use of partner intelligence materials online and through other mechanisms to support partnerships at Headquarters, regional and country offices, in close collaboration with relevant UN Women sections/offices.
  • Work together with regional and country offices to adapt partner intelligence packages to local context and specific needs.

Develop and update funding partner information for external dissemination in UN Women corporate reports and on-line information platforms:

  • Produce content for corporate annual reports, including UN Women´s Regular Resources Report.
  • Ensure data on UN Women partners is timely updated in on-line information platforms, in close collaboration with the Advocacy and Communications section.
  • Develop and disseminate data that emphasize the value of partnerships, in close collaboration with the Advocacy and Communications section.
  • Develop knowledge products and mechanisms to strengthen the investment case for UN Women.

Ensure harmonization of partner information to contribute to strengthened partnerships:

  • Research and perform desk reviews of practices by other UN system offices and agencies, to inform UN Women standards/models for maintaining and strengthening partnerships;
  • Evaluate and prepare recommendations to enhance resource mobilization initiatives and activities;
  • Conduct periodical surveys to assess the use and impact of UN Women’s partner intelligence and recognition materials internally and externally and use findings to improve partnerships.

Perform related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

  • Timely research and analysis for the production of donor intelligence materials including funding trends and comparisons of donor contributions made available to support implementation of resource mobilization strategies;
  • Timely indication of funding opportunities and timely tracking of donor intelligence;
  • SPD/RM central repository of institutional information on government donors organization-wide and donor management information are managed effectively and capacity effectively enhanced;
  • Effective and efficient partnerships and donor relationships, and timely attention and response to UN Women’s partners and donors;
  • Quality communication and advocacy products which result in increased resources and a strong investment case for UN Women.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in economics, business management, social sciences, public administration, international relations, communications, women's studies, or a related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in programme and/or project support, resource mobilization, business development and/or planning and operations in a large international and/or corporate organization.
  • Experience in gender equality and women's empowerment.
  • Experience in the UN Common System required and familiarity with Inter-governmental processes is preferable.
  • Experience in collating, analyzing and disseminating varied information to different audiences.
  • Experience in donor relations and partnership building.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English (written and oral);
  • Knowledge of another UN language would be an asset.

In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW, OSAGI, INSTRAW and UNIFEM), which focused exclusively on gender equality and women's empowerment.
